Silverstar Scoops Several Awards at The West Rand Tourism Awards
Silverstar picked up two gold and two silver awards at the seventh annual West Rand Tourism Awards held on 20 June 2014.
Business owners, products and services that have displayed exceptional service in the West Rand District Municipality are recognised annually by the West Rand Tourism Awards. This year’s theme was service excellence and the judges, who included local officials and experts from the tourism field, identified and rewarded tourism providers who supplied excellent client service.
“We’re very proud of picking up four awards for our facilities and it’s great to be recognised for the quality of our customer service,” says Shane Collinson, Director of Operations and Complex General Manager at Silverstar.
Silverstar’s facilities won awards in the following categories:
- Gold Award in the category Large Conference, Functions & Events Venue for the Silverstar Centre and its banqueting service
- Gold Award in the category Best Spa for Soulstice Day Spa, an independent operator located at Silverstar
- Silver Award in the category four star Lodge/Hotel for Southern Sun Silverstar
- Silver Award in the category Restaurant Buffet for Billy G restaurant
The Silverstar Centre is Silverstar’s banqueting and conferencing venue that caters to large corporate and private functions. The venue is perfect for banquets, cocktail parties and conference style events and can accommodate up to 580 guests.
Soulstice Day Spa offers a wide range of treatments which are designed to give clients the ultimate experience in head-to-toe luxury and personalised attention. Its facilities include a flotation tank, Amethyst crystal rasul chamber, a heated jet spa pool, a purifying steam room, an executive couple suite and an outdoor swimming pool.
Southern Sun Silverstar is a 34-room, luxurious and contemporary hotel with a magnificent view of Silverstar’s fountain as well as the square and outdoor restaurants that are currently being added to the complex.
Billy G is Silverstar’s upmarket, family buffet restaurant that offers mouth watering meals that will have you going back to dish up some more. Diners can enjoy hearty stews at Billy G this winter.
“We hope to pick up even more awards at next year’s event when our development will be complete and we’ll have a host of brand new facilities to offer the West Rand community,” says Collinson.
