Silverstar Casino’s Director of Operations and Complex General Manager Shane Collinson Makes a Mark at Quads 4 Quads Race
The 13th annual Quads 4 Quads off-road motorbike event took place on the 29th September from Johannesburg to Durban. The first leg of the journey ended on Sunday, 2nd October at Cane Cutters in Ballito. Thursday 6th October 2016 saw the return ride, with the journey ending with a bang at Carnival City Casino and Hotel on the 10th as Silverstar Casino handed over five state of the art wheelchairs to one lucky Non-Profit Organisation, being QASA.
About 600 quad bikers, which included two-wheel motorcycle riders as well as several quadriplegic and paraplegic riders, took part in this enduring charity ride that saw riders face about 250km of dirt for 8 hours each day covering a total of a 1000 kilometres over the 4 days. One such rider was Silverstar Casino’s Director of Operations and Complex General Manager, Shane Collinson, who rode with his team of friends under the ‘Silverstar Team ROLL ON banner’ to raise funds for the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA).
“This ride, given the distance and diverse terrain that had to be covered, was not easy, such rides never are but I was part of a very strong team of 30 dirt bike friends and backups. We did what we could to reach our destination, Carnival City, and loved the experience. It was an amazing event that was extremely well hosted by Glen and his team from Family Adventures and I am happy that we were able to assist in some small way in raising funds for QASA. The funds will go a long way in helping them achieve their vision” Shane Collinson
The money generated by Collinson’s friends during the event will help assist QASA to develop and deliver the necessary projects and equipment to help quadriplegics and paraplegics integrate into society and live meaningful lives.
The ride ended on a high note as Collinson and his team, Silverstar ROLL ON, presented QASA with five state of the art wheelchairs sponsored by Silverstar Casino. There is no doubt that this event, which is not just a ride, will continue to grow bigger each year, continuing the plight of assisting quadriplegics and paraplegics to integrate into mainstream society with equal rights.
